Previous: The Carriers Are In Charge JDK/JDE Download Links
First Published January 2, 2010
BlackBerry development requires you to install at least one JDK (Java Development Kit — from Sun Microsystems) and at least one JDE (Java Development Environment — from Research In Motion). Luckily, they are all free! Here are the links to the various JDK and JDE versions available as of this date. Registration may be required for downloading. Sun Java Development KitsThe current version of Java is 1.6, but you may need an older version (either 1.4 or 1.5) depending which JDE you want to use. Registration is required to download the archived versions of the JDK. BlackBerry Java Development EnvironmentsAll current and previous JDE versions can be downloaded from the BlackBerry Java Development Environment page. Note, however, that you must first download and install the appropriate JDK version before installing a JDE:
You can install different JDE versions on the same machine with no problem, but you may have to alter the paths of the batch files in a particular JDE to use the correct version of Java. |
